Iditarod 2024 Schedule 2. The 2024 iditarod kicks off saturday with a ceremonial start in anchorage followed by an official race start in willow on sunday. The iditarod trail sled dog race is one of alaska’s iconic winter events, and the excitement traditionally starts in anchorage on the first saturday of march each year. The 2024 iditarod is scheduled to begin on march 2.
